Linda S. Rubin has been a breeder and exhibitor of
budgerigars, cockatiels, and parrots for several
decades and was the first NCS judge to qualify and be
tested in the National Cockatiel Society following the
initial 5 grandfathered judges. She served on the
panel from 1984 to 2007, when she founded the
Cockatiel Foundation, Inc. and became its first judge.
Linda qualified as a Panel Judge for the Society of
Parrot Breeders & Exhibitors in 1985 and continues to
serve to the present. She has championed exhibition
cockatiels, ABS budgerigars, and SPBE parrots, and
judged cockatiel and parrot shows around the United
States, Canada, and Puerto Rico since 1984. She
presided as judge at three National Cage Bird Shows
(1991, 1996, and 1999), the Great American Bird Show
(1986), and the Canadian National Cage Bird Show
(2008), and various assignments in Puerto Rico and
Canada.
Linda participated as a member of the ACS Show
Standards Committee in 1976, and eventually went on
to author the original "NCS Show Standard of
Excellence" in 1984, and the "Cockatiel Foundation
Show Standard for the Ideal Cockatiel" in 2007. These
Standards have frequently been used as a model in
drafting others. Linda served many years as NCS
Chairman of the Judges' Panel and authored an
extensive Judges' Panel exam for the organization in
2005. She continues to be consulted for advice from
other avian organizations on writing standards.

This sojurn into the world of exhibition parrots, cockatiels, lovebirds and budgies examines both the science and art of showing Psittacine birds. The origin of competitions,
comparison of livestock, and positive benefits of exhibiting are discussed as an art form to improving type, standards and improvement of future generations. The science
of exhibition is examined by looking at show standards that influence the genetics and future of livestock and their genotypes. Practical information is presented on the
show training and grooming of birds, how to prepare for shows, and what it takes to make a champion or grand-champion exhibit. From classifications, show mechanics,
the judging process, and stewarding, to filling out the entry forms and show tags, this program will make showing much more fun and easier to understand. As a Certified
Panel Judge for the Society of Parrot Breeders & Exhibitors, and the Cockatiel Foundation (and a former NCS & NAPS Panel Judge), Linda has judged in the US, Puerto Rico and
