"Well, there is help on
the horizon and
anyone seriously
interested in color
genetics should take a
look at Linda Rubin's
book:
COCKATIEL
G
ENETICS MADE EASY!
Though this book is
primarily directed to
breeders of cockatiel
mutations, there is
enough information in
this little volume to
teach anyone the
secrets of dealing
with recessive,
sex-linked, and
dominant mutations..."

COCKATIEL GENETICS CHARTS

The following charts are printed here merely as a reference for
calculating one mutation at a time and should not be confused with the
charting methods used in
COCKATIEL GENETICS MADE EASY, which
uses a line-charting method for any number of color mutations within the
same pair. However, these "general" charts have been selectively
restated in the style that I have used in one of my own books,

Cockatiels in Color
TM for those wishing to check simple pairings, or to
check their work "one mutation at a time."

(Note: A hen can never be split to a sex-linked mutation)

Sex-linked cock x sex-linked hen                    = 100% sex-linked young

Sex-linked cock x non-linked hen                   =  50% split sex-linked
cocks                                                                  50% sex-linked hens

Non-linked cocks x sex-linked hens                =  50% split sex-linked
cocks                                                                  50% non-linked hens

Split sex-linked cocks x sex-linked hens         =  25% split sex-linked cocks
                                                                         25% sex-linked cocks
                                                                         25% sex-linked hens
                                                                         25% non-linked hens

Split sex-linked cocks x non-linked hens       =   25% split sex-linked cocks
                                                                         25% non-linked cocks
                                                                         25% sex-linked hens
                                                                         25% non-linked hens
